The group helping to keep attention on one of the biggest civic issues at the Jacksonville Beaches has been chosen as one the biggest friends of the Beaches.
Beaches Watch, a coastal civic advocacy group, has named the St. Johns River Ferry Task Force as the recipient of the 2012 Friend of the Beaches Award. The task force was formed this year to find ways to keep the ferry running after the Jacksonville Port Authority announced it will end funding Sept. 30.
The Beaches Watch board of directors voted on giving the award to the ferry task force. Ed Raube made the nomination.
